Here we are at Giraffe Center. The purpose of the Giraffe Center is to educate about and rescue the endangered Rothschild giraffe. These hungry giants come to a tree house periodically throughout each day for some treats provided by curious visitors like us. What an amazing experience being face to face with a 23 foot gentle giant!
Divine intervention once again!
During the educational seminar that we attended, we were able to network and as a result, left the Center with a full-day Ecology Excursion Field Trip for our Kilimani Primary School fourth graders in the fall! Thank you Giraffe Center and thank you Fund for Teachers! Our grant money truly put to good use!
Hi Ladies,
ReplyDeleteI love how you made sure to get the Fund for Teachers bag in the photos. Great PR. What an amazing organization. They are truly touching the children of America through your experiences. The field trip for those fourth graders will be a special experience that they will be able to share with you and you'll have had that common experience to then talk to our urban Bostonian students. Talk about "making connections"! You look like your both having a great time...
Hi Danielle and Terri,
ReplyDeleteBoth of you guys seem to live for 48 hours a day not for 24 hours! Your joining in “Diabetes Awareness Walk” is great! I look forward to listening to your next activity.
WOW, what a great deed you are both participating in. We are all enjoying your descriptive posts. Michael would like to know if you like the giraffes and are you scared of them?
ReplyDeleteTricia and Michael Ryan
T: You are certainly cramming a lot of "doing" into your days! I am going to try to watch the YouTube thing now. J
ReplyDeleteP.S. Auggie did great at his first run-through for his exams. Saw R Su at O; work is keeping him busy. J
T: So I watched you on TV so to speak. As a daughter of a diabetic and sibling to three, I thank you for your participation in a very worthy cause. I don't know what the local stats are, but it is the #2 killer in the U.S. J
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of the comments and encouragement everyone! We look forward to and love reading your posts. It keeps us connected to home. Michael R., we want you to know that giraffes are very gentle and we weren't scared at all. Even though Mrs. Wellner looked like she was afraid the giraffe might give her a smooch, they became friends and he ate right out of her hands!
ReplyDeleteDear Ms Merdin and Ms Wellner,
ReplyDeleteMichael Wuschke and I would like you to bring us home a giraffe...we promise we will look after him.
Love,
Ms Borr and Mike
